Black History Month invites us not only to remember, but it also reminds us to respond. To reflect and activate. To see history as a compass we carry forward.

This is especially meaningful for us at That’s So Creative – a creative agency born out of a heart to serve the community, elevate voices that matter, and build bridges between brand story and real-world impact.

We believe creativity is a responsibility. Design, storytelling, strategy – these are tools for visibility, equity, and change. Shaping the future demands that we unlock and elevate voices that have been historically overlooked.

From the South Side to the World: Our Story Is Interwoven With Community

When Founder and Creative Director CJ Harris launched That’s So Creative in 2016, it was more than a business; it was a calling. A leap of faith rooted in community uplift, creative courage, and purposeful storytelling.

From our Chicago home, we’ve prioritized two things:

  • Amplifying voices that don’t always get heard.
  • Partnering with purpose-driven businesses and organizations to tell their stories with clarity, strategy, and creativity.

We strive to create work that makes an impact, is deeply understood, and resonates emotionally.

Honoring Black Innovation – Through The Lens of Today’s Creators

Black excellence isn’t frozen in books. It’s happening now – in design, tech, culture, business, and community leadership.

In generative AI conversations, Black researchers and thinkers are helping shape ethical frameworks that guide how this tech engages the world. In design and branding, Black creatives are reshaping visual languages. In business, Black founders are building companies rooted in purpose.

These leaders aren’t waiting for permission. They’re building. They’re teaching. They’re creating ecosystems that make space for others.

Our communities and our creative economy are stronger because of them.

How TSC’s Creative Work Amplifies Legacy & Innovation

Our work has been rooted in stories that matter.

One meaningful chapter in our journey: partnering with the historic South Side Community Art Center to redesign their website – a project that honored decades of Black artistry, cultural legacy, and community engagement in Chicago.

This work was transformational. It made a legacy institution more accessible, discoverable, and relevant for today’s generation of creators and audiences.

This is the type of work we lean into, where brand strategy, creative storytelling, and community value intersect.

The Pulse of Creativity Is Forward-Moving

Black History Month reminds us that history is both foundation and future. The voices we elevate now are the history that future generations will study.

At That’s So Creative,

Creativity isn’t seasonal.
Impact isn’t temporary.
Stories aren’t optional.

And every leap of faith begins with a story worth telling.

Let’s tell more of them together.
